Hallo!
I don't even know if this forum is operational.
To find out let me post a question.
Are any users, doing work with PAWN related to text manipulation?
I am in search of a programming language for use with text maipulation.
I would like to have contact with users engaged on such.
Kind regards, patrickforkin

You question sounds like a strange one. Text manipulation? Some users of Pawn might do some of it. But the primary use of Pawn would be embedded scripting. Perhaps, Perl would be good for text manipulation with its support of regular expressions and all.
You might want to rephrase your question.

Hallo!
Is Pawn alive and well or is it on the way out?
Forum usage seems to indicate that it is on the downturn.
I like Pawn for its simplicity and I wanted to use it to try and automate a process of translating from English to German that I have put in place on my desktop.
Tha pproach I have adopted is to describe steps at their simplest level and then try and find ways to realize the steps without programming.
The steps to translate are 10 in total.
The involve
1. segmenting English sentences into their clauses
2. segmenting the clauses into phrases or word elements
3. Re-sequencing the English Phrases and Words to meet German needs.
4. Translating Phrases into German using a dicationary I have built.
In addition to the bove 4 steps there are steps for counting numbers of words in sentences, cluases and phrases.
The results of each are compared with entries in a notation scheme to determine parts-of-speech head-words for translating the phrases.
So I have a need for some 10 programs written in Pawn.
Is there any archive which I could have access to with scripts which I could download for testing and learning?
L hope to hear from you. Regards, patrickforkin.

Hmm, this sounds like an interesting endeavor.
But why Pawn? I'm sure a few other languages would be more suited for this task...

Consider using TCL instead. TCL is most powerful when dealing with strings. PAWN is more powerful for game scripting or state-driven automation problems.
