Tachograph Emulator
Summary | Emulator of the digital tachograph (by ACTIA) on a desktop PC with Microsoft Windows |
Customer | Precept Media (France), ACTIA (France) |
Time | 2 months |
Components | An ActiveX module containing the original "firmware" in emulated hardware, which makes the emulator behave identically to the true apparatus |
Description | The emulator runs the original "firmware" of the digital tachograph, with the exception of the hardware drivers. These drivers are all re-implemented to either use standard PC equipment (such as a common desktop printer instead of the special purpose ticket printer) or emulate the tachograph-specific equipment. Thus, the emulator behaves exactly like the real apparatus, which is critical for the training of the truck drivers who will use the device. Through its ActiveX interface, the emulator can be embedded into almost any development system. It has, for example, been used with Visual Basic and EGO for Windows. |
